WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
WHEREAS, the annual celebrations of International Women's Day on March 8 and Women's History Week during the second week of March have proven successful and worthwhile for several years; and
WHEREAS, these celebrations recognize the economic, cultural, social, and political contributions made by American women to our American heritage; and
WHEREAS, these celebrations should be expanded as a means of focusing even greater attention on the contributions of the female labor force, working both in and out of the home:
RESOLVED, that the AFT support efforts to establish an annual celebration of Women's History Month during March; and
RESOLVED, that the AFT support permanent legislation making Women's History Month an annual event. (Executive Council)
