URBAN GRANT UNIVERSITY ACT

WHEREAS, the Morill Act of 1862 provided federal assistance for the founding of land grant colleges and universities to assist the agricultural development and research of the United States; and

WHEREAS, the Urban Grant University Act would provide federal assistance to designated urban colleges and universities, encouraging their involvement in assisting cities by using their human and knowledge resources to find solutions for urban problems, and to provide urban public services:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers calls upon Congress to enact the Urban Grant University Act and to fully fund it.
