TRIBUTE TO CHARLES MILLER

Charles Miller, longtime union activist, former AFT vice president, chairman of the AFT Defense Committee and a vital force in securing collective bargaining rights for the teachers in Gary, Indiana, departed this life on June 12, 1983 after a short illness. Despite his retirement from the Gary system he continued as a union member of Purdue University to give advice and assistance to our local. Just one week prior to his death, he attended the Retiring Teachers Reception with his wife, Doris, and brought with him copies of a court case which he believed would help us in a current problem.

We ask this convention to join us in this tribute, and that this resolution be sent to his wife and daughter.
