STATE EMPLOYEE PENSION FUNDS
WHEREAS, the American Federation of Teachers has successfully organized and represents large numbers of state employees in Connecticut, Illinois, Montana, New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Rhode Island; and
WHEREAS, the AFT has established the Federation of State Employees to service the interests, needs and concerns of the state-employed members; and
WHEREAS, public employees, in addition to other employees in the public or private sector, should enjoy all rights and benefits guaranteed under their contracts and law; and
WHEREAS, public employees currently have no uniform mechanism to insure that public sector pension and retirement systems are adequately funded and managed:
RESOLVED, that the AFT move to encourage state legislators to enact legislation to insure that public sector pension funds be adequately funded and competently administered.
