AFT Resolution

SOUTH KOREAN REPRESSION

WHEREAS, the regime of President Park Chung Hee has been repressive of democratic procedures in South Korea; and

WHEREAS, many of those who have suffered repression have been school teachers, college professors; and trade union members:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO, denounces the suppression of freedom in all nations governed by fascist and communist dictatorships; and

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO, demand that all appropriate efforts be made by the U.S. Government to assure the human and civil rights of prisoners of all nations governed by fascist and communist dictatorships as guaranteed by Article IX of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations.
