SOLIDARITY DAY Ill

WHEREAS, the AFL-CIO has issued a call for demonstrations throughout the country on Labor Day, Sept. 5, 1983; and

WHEREAS, the policies of the Reagan administration, including particularly its support of tuition tax credits and cuts in federal funds for education, as well as economic policies have led to massive unemployment and cutbacks in federal services to states and localities at great cost to the American people; and

WHEREAS, large demonstrations by all segments of the labor movement and its allies are an effective means of protest against these policies:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO participate fully in Solidarity Day Ill and urge its members to take part in the events being held in all 50 states on Labor Day. (Executive Council)
