AFT Resolution

SOCIAL SECURITY LAW

WHEREAS, the present Social Security law is inequitable in that widows and widowers under age 60 cannot collect survivor benefits unless they have dependent children; and

WHEREAS, such persons may, for one reason or another, have not been previously employed and may be unemployable:

RESOLVED, that the AFT will support legislation to correct the above inequities.
