AFT Resolution

RETIREMENT BUY-IN RIGHTS

WHEREAS, numerous state departments of education grant their teachers retirement buy-in rights for overseas teaching service with the United States Government; and

WHEREAS, more than two-thirds of the states have reciprocal teacher retirement buy-in rights for previous out-of-state teaching service:

RESOLVED, that the AFT lobby to obtain legislation that grants teachers in all United States school systems (federal, state, county, and city) retirement buy-in rights for previous teaching service in all other United States school systems.
