AFT Resolution
REFUGEES FROM HAITI
WHEREAS, refugees from Haiti, risking their lives to escape from the foul dictatorship of Duvalier and Co., are not finding a warm welcome when their vessels approach our shores, or when they succeed in landing; and
WHEREAS, the strong possibility of racial and political discrimination against these refugees is not to be lightly dismissed:
RESOLVED, that this convention call upon the President and Congress of the United States to instruct the Coast Guard, the Department of State, and the Department of Justice to cease the unfair treatment of Haitians seeking asylum in the United States; and
RESOLVED, that the national office be empowered to send copies of this resolution to any persons or organizations. (Executive Council)
