AFT Resolution

PUBLIC RELATIONS CAMPAIGN

WHEREAS, recent federal budget cuts have had a great impact on state funds; and

WHEREAS, these fund cuts will require local districts to increase school budgets through increasing property taxes; and

WHEREAS, school budgets based on property taxes have been defeated in the past several years in ever-increasing numbers; and

WHEREAS, state legislatures have not formulated an appropriate solution; and

WHEREAS, a public relations campaign would help public attitudes toward expenditures for public education:

RESOLVED, AFT should form a public relations campaign which informs the public in a positive way of the accomplishments and needs of teachers and public education.
