AFT Resolution

TO PROVIDE FOR VOLUNTARY RETIREMENT AFTER TWENTY YEARS' ACTIVE TEACHING DUTY

RESOLVED, that teachers in the public schools of the United States be provided with the option of taking voluntary retirement after twenty years of active teaching; and

RESOLVED, that the retirement pensions and annuities be structured in such a way as to provide such a retiring teacher with a retirement income equal to at least one-half of the average of the last years' earnable salary or the three last earnable years, whichever is higher; and

RESOLVED, that the existence of such a program shall not be construed to force or to pressure any teacher into retirement.
