AFT Resolution

PENSION PORTABILITY

WHEREAS, in our mobile society it is frequently necessary for school and other public employees and health care workers to change their state of residence; and

WHEREAS, many states already permit purchase of credit of service in other states:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers lobby actively in Congress and in the state legislatures for pension portability; and

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers lobby in Congress for federal support that would assist states in creating portable pension plans.
