AFT Resolution

OIL TAX PROFITS

WHEREAS, the 1980 AFT Convention resolved that the AFT Legislative Committee conduct a nationwide campaign among its locals, other unions, consumer groups and community organizations to tax the oil industry and/or oil production with no new taxes to be passed on to the consumer; and

WHEREAS, profits of oil companies continue to be at historically record highs while local and state revenues are insufficient to fund education, health and welfare:

RESOLVED, that AFT renew its commitment to this effort and encourage general participation at all levels. (Executive Council)
