AFT Resolution

LEAVE FOR MATERNITY AND CHILD REARING

WHEREAS, the 1972 AFT Convention adopted a comprehensive resolution on parental leave:

RESOLVED, that the 1973 AFT Convention reaffirms this policy with the following additions:

RESOLVED, that the employee should be allowed to apply accumulated sick leave to each maternity and any pregnancy related complication therefore; and

RESOLVED, that child rearing leave shall be available to either parent; and

RESOLVED, that no special penalty in service computation for sabbatical eligibility be applied to persons taking parental leave.
