KINGSPORT PRESS
WHEREAS, the strike against the Kingsport Press, Inc., of Kingsport, Tenn., by members of five AFL-CIO unions is now more than three years old; and

WHEREAS, the principals products of this unfair employer are school textbooks and encyclopedia which are sold by major book publishers to our public and private school systems all over the nation; and
WHEREAS, most of such books are purchased by public school boards with tax money, contributed in large part by union members, and children of union members are required to use such books; and
WHEREAS, the 1965 AFL-CIO Convention recognized that this is a dispute which affects every union member and urged maximum support of a program to boycott books being produced at Kingsport Press:
RESOLVED, that this Convention urge all affiliates to give every assistance to local AFL-CIO central bodies in publicizing this strike and in programs which appeal to boards of education to cease using tax money to buy books produced at the Kingsport Press; and
RESOLVED, that all members of this union refrain from purchasing World Book Encyclopedia [or its annual supplements] or the Childcraft series, published by Field Enterprises Educational Corporation, which are printed and bound by scabs and strike-breakers at Kingsport Press; and
RESOLVED, that all publishers who are known to be customers at Kingsport Press shall be advised by letter of this convention action and be furnished a copy of this resolution; and
RESOLVED, that without exception the boards and committees of education and school districts where AFT locals are chartered and which have not adopted policies to refuse to purchase books and publications printed in whole or in part by Kingsport Press be asked to adopt such a position and in turn seek from all publishers the printing of school books in union shop plants.
