AFT Resolution

JOAN LITTLE CASE

WHEREAS, Joan Little, a 20-year-old black woman prisoner in Washington, North Carolina, is being tried for first-degree murder for killing Clarence Alligood, a white prison guard; and

WHEREAS, Joan Little was defending herself from an alleged rape attempt by Alligood:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers declare its support for a fair trial; and

RESOLVED, that a telegram of support be sent from the AFT to the Southern Poverty Law Center which is handling Joan Little's case.
