AFT Resolution

IMPAIRED PRACTITIONERS

WHEREAS, there is well documented evidence that chemical dependency exists among health care professionals, which interferes with the practice of their profession; and

WHEREAS, chemical dependency is recognized as a disease which is preventable and treatable; and

WHEREAS, unionized health care professionals have a responsibility to assist their co-workers in recognition and treatment of the disease of chemical dependency:

RESOLVED, that the Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals, American Federation of Teachers, researches and sends information to all locals regarding quality treatment programs for chemically dependent health care professionals.
