AFT Resolution

HEALTH CARE MERGERS AND QUALITY HEALTH CARE

WHEREAS, the AFT is committed to upholding the rights of women and men's in the area of reproductive choice and quality health care, including promoting and defending high standards and access to quality health care; and

WHEREAS, the merging of hospitals and health care agencies has resulted in the withdrawal of some reproductive health services, including emergency contraception for rape victims:

 

RESOLVED, that the AFT and the AFL-CIO urge all affiliated unions to negotiate safeguards to ensure that employees do not lose access to any reproductive health services as a result of health care mergers or cost-cutting measures in employee insurance plans.
