AFT Resolution

HAZARDOUS ART MATERIALS

WHEREAS, art teachers and the students they work with may be unknowingly risking serious chronic health problems due to toxic chemicals in the materials they use; and

WHEREAS, product-related health problems are more prevalent than generally recognized; and

WHEREAS, a need for the labeling of chemical names of the ingredients in art supplies and the listing of the health hazards that could result in the misuse of the product, and the proper working conditions of the produce is a matter of grave importance:

RESOLVED, that the AFT actively support H.R. 6977 which calls for strict labeling requirements on all art materials. (Executive Council)
