GIFTED STUDENTS - SCHOLARSHIPS

WHEREAS, the American Federation of Teachers recognizes a major goal of promoting the profession of teaching and that this goal is becoming increasingly important in a rapidly more challenging world; and

WHEREAS, the teaching profession vitally needs to attract more gifted young people into its ranks and thereby promote the service rendered by the profession:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers cooperate with the AFL-CIO scholarship program when financially feasible, with emphasis on awarding scholarships to potential teachers; and

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers encourage locals to award scholarships established through a local scholarship program.
