AFT Resolution
FREE TUITION IN PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION
WHEREAS, access to postsecondary educational opportunity should be the right of all; and
WHEREAS, tuition represents a discriminatory hardship that denies and delimits educational opportunity; and
WHEREAS, the extension and expansion of such opportunity is in the best interests of society:
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers supports the principle of free tuition in all public institutions of higher education in the nation; and
RESOLVED, that AFT communicate this resolution to the President of the United States, the Commissioner of Education, and the Congress.
