AFT Resolution

FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION

WHEREAS, the Federal Trade Commission serves the interests of the overwhelming majority of the people as consumers, by requiring accurate labeling of products and itemization of bills, and forbidding production of dangerous products for interstate commerce; and

WHEREAS, the Federal Trade Commission has been under heavy attack from special interest groups who seek its total destruction:

RESOLVED, that the AFT opposes further efforts to weaken the Federal Trade Commission; and

RESOLVED, that the AFT will work to remove Congressional restrictions recently placed upon the Federal Trade Commission, including Congressional veto power over Federal Trade Commission regulations. (Executive Council)
