AFT Resolution
FEDERAL SUBSIDY FOR STATE TEACHER RETIREMENT PLANS
WHEREAS, teachers transferring from one state to another often lose their pension benefits through lack of reciprocity from one state to another:
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers urge organized labor to support legislation in the United States Congress that would subsidize state retirement plans so that teachers could retire with credit for public school teaching service regardless of where such service took place; and
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers urge all professional educators' groups to join in supporting such legislation. (Executive Council)
