AFT Resolution

ELIMINATION OF SINGLE SEX VOCATIONAL SCHOOL

WHEREAS, vocational education has traditionally been taught in schools, classrooms and courses which separated the sexes; and

WHEREAS, such separation is inimical to the best social interests of our society and to individual career choices; and

WHEREAS, such separation has had the effect of sex discrimination in job opportunities within the entire spectrum of alternatives which our complex society provides:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers go on record as advocating the elimination of single sex schools, classrooms and courses in all public vocational education facilities.
