AFT Resolution

EARLY CHILDHOOD STAFFING

WHEREAS, many pre-school and Head Start children are deprived of a two-parent home or have both parents working outside of the home; and

WHEREAS, early childhood programs have made a tremendous impact on the education of these children as shown by the yearly evaluation of these programs; and

WHEREAS, in order to be effective, the teaching and paraprofessional staffing plan must be maintained and upgraded:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers continues to take a leadership role through lobbying efforts to maintain and improve early childhood programs, with special emphasis on employed staff. (Executive Council)
