AFT Resolution

DIVESTITURE OF UNION BOYCOTTED CORPORATION STOCKS

WHEREAS, the J.P. Stevens Corporation and other anti-labor employers have been placed on a boycott list by the AFL-CIO; and

WHEREAS, these union-busting employers are public corporations that sell their stocks and bonds on the open market; and

WHEREAS, there are public pension systems to which teachers and other unionized employees belong that hold stocks and bonds in these corporations:

RESOLVED, that this AFT convention call upon the trustees of all pension systems to which teachers and other unionized public employees belong prudently to divest themselves of stocks and holdings in all union-boycotted corporations unless holdings are advisable for the purpose of providing a pro-labor voice and vote at shareholder's meetings.
