AFT Resolution

DEFENSE OF CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS

WHEREAS, the 1980 Republican Party Platform called for attacks on the rights of Americans, including hostility to women's rights and opposition to the Equal Rights Amendment; and

WHEREAS, the American Federation of Teachers and the AFL-CIO have consistently defended the constitutional rights of all Americans:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers direct its legislative advocates to testify against all attempts in the Congress of the United States to take away constitutional rights now held by Americans, and

RESOLVED, that the AFT ask the AFL-CIO to take similar action. (Executive Council)
