CRASH PROGRAM IN THE TEACHING OF MINORITY HISTORY IN THE SCHOOLS

WHEREAS, the practical problem of changing attitudes cannot be left to a long range program of changing curriculum in the teacher training institutions; and

WHEREAS, children on a day-to-day basis are being taught by teachers who are unaware of the rich, culture, traditions and contributions of minority groups to the growth of America:

RESOLVED, that a crash program of study for teachers in Afro-American, Latin-American and other minority group history be instituted by all school systems and that all teachers be encouraged to gain proficiency in these areas in inservice programs sponsored by Boards of Education throughout the country.
