COVERAGE OF TEACHERS UNDER TITLE Vll OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964

WHEREAS, equal employment opportunities now assured to workers in industry and the federal government under Title Vll of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 are still denied to workers in state and local governments, including teachers:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers call upon all Senators and Congressmen to amend Title Vll of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to extend coverage to workers in state and local governments, including teachers.
