COMMUNITY RELATIONS

WHEREAS, a number of studies have now recognized what teachers have always known; and

WHEREAS, excellence in education will require increased community support, both financial and political; and

WHEREAS, the survival of public schools should be the concern of all sectors of society; and

WHEREAS, teachers have performed remarkably well with limited support; and

WHEREAS, our goal has been and should continue to be a well-rounded education:

RESOLVED, that member locals be encouraged to develop relationships with the business, professional and labor communities in support of public schools; and

RESOLVED, that this relationship be continued if these communities evidence positive support; and

RESOLVED, that member locals hold these communities accountable when negative and destructive actions are evidenced.
