AFT Resolution

CLOSING OF UTICA AND HARLEM VALLEY PSYCHIATRIC CENTERS

WHEREAS, New York State has proposed the closing of Utica Psychiatric Center and Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center; and

WHEREAS, New York State has failed to justify these closings in terms of direct needs; and

WHEREAS, there is a demonstrated need for additional beds within the catchment area of the facilities:

RESOLVED, that AFT is opposed to the current New York State plan to close Utica Psychiatric Center and Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center; and

RESOLVED, that AFT will utilize its political action and the legislative forum to prevent these closings.
