CHILDREN IN CRISIS (II)

WHEREAS, the AFT has proposed a 10-point plan to help solve the problems of children in crisis and is calling for $10.5 billion to fund it; and

WHEREAS, the plan proposes programs in education, nutrition, health and housing for children and families in crisis; and

WHEREAS, the plan offers excellent remedies to the desperate state of our social infrastructure and helps ensure the future through our children:

RESOLVED, that AFT delegates at the 1992 convention endorse this program and make it a priority for action during the next two years; and

RESOLVED, that the AFT lobby Congress to fund the program in the next fiscal year, work for a more equitable tax system in which the wealthy and the corporations pay their fair share and claim the peace dividend.
