AFT Resolution

CERTIFICATION OF ALL TEACHERS IN CETA-FUNDED VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS

WHEREAS, quality educational and trade programs require properly certified teachers; and

WHEREAS, private and community-based schools employ teachers who do not meet standards for vocational certification; and

WHEREAS, these schools are in competition with public schools in many areas:

RESOLVED, that the AFT adopt the position that CETA legislation should contain language which would mandate that all teachers in CETA funded programs and/or proprietary schools meet the same certification requirements that public school teachers must meet in their respective school districts.
