BUSINESS-SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS

WHEREAS, the way to preserve public education is to maintain the support of the political, labor, and business community; and

WHEREAS, business and school partnerships have found success in many parts of the country since they provide an opportunity for business to learn about schools and the good things the schools are doing; and

WHEREAS, these partnerships are part of the resurgence of interest in education and hold a real promise to strengthen the public schools across the country; and

WHEREAS, in these equal relationships, with well thought out agreements, both business and education will gain:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers supports the concept of business and school partnerships which are productive and effective and feature cooperation and collaboration.
