THE BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS AND PUBLIC SECTOR DATA
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has been producing for a number of years a series of studies on wages, wage settlements and collective bargaining agreement provisions; and
WHEREAS, the quality of these continuing studies has been such that they have been useful to labor and management negotiators in private industry; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau has produced only occasional studies of State and local government wages and collective bargaining agreement provisions; and
WHEREAS, these studies have been too infrequent to serve the needs of negotiators in the rapidly growing area of state and local government collective bargaining:
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO urge the Bureau to provide a program of studies equal to that which it now provides to non-government negotiators, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Public Employee Department, AFL-CIO. (Executive Council)
