BUILDING STRENGTH THROUGH POLITICAL POWER

WHEREAS, public employees throughout the country are making the choice to organize and affiliate with the AFT; and

WHEREAS, public employees are one of the fastest-growing divisions of the AFT; and

WHEREAS, AFT must continue to build political power in areas where it does not exist and strengthen the political power already in place; and

WHEREAS, AFT must continue to educate all constituency area members in the political process:

RESOLVED, that the AFT's COPE division continue to develop programs to assist all locals where needed in all state and local elections; and

RESOLVED, that the AFT's COPE division will actively solicit representatives of all constituency areas to be involved in all national elections; and

RESOLVED, that the AFT's COPE division will work to ensure that every local union has a strong COPE program in place.
