AFT Resolution

BASIC SALARY RATE FOR ESEA TEACHERS

WHEREAS, federal funds are being made available to pay teachers' salaries in connection with such programs as Head Start, after school, and special summer school; and

WHEREAS, most of the personnel teaching these classes are fully certified teachers in regular day school programs; and

WHEREAS, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act does not provide for paying teachers in accordance with their basic salary rates:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers continue to use every effort to make certain that no teacher working in such programs be paid less than his basic salary rate.
