ATLANTA CHILDREN
WHEREAS, many children in Atlanta have been murdered or missing; and
WHEREAS, the hysteria surrounding these deaths has had an adverse impact on the mental and sociological well-being of all people, especially children; and
WHEREAS, the American Federation of Teachers has always advocated and fought for the safety and well-being of every child; and
WHEREAS, most of these children were especially vulnerable because of social, economic and educational deprivation:
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers support all efforts to alleviate conditions that place children in this situation; and
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers commends the Atlanta Central Labor Council and the Atlanta Federation of Teachers for their efforts in the crisis; and
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers decries the brutality against the children in Atlanta.
