AFT Resolution

AMENDMENTS TO THE TAYLOR LAW

The AFT supports the efforts of the New York State United Teachers to reform the New York State Taylor Law with regard to the following:

That it be mandatory for all the terms of an expired agreement to be continued until a new agreement is negotiated.

Deletion of the provision requiring a double loss of salary for each day an employee is allegedly out on strike.

That public employee unions be granted the basic right of notice before the issuance of a temporary restraining order or a preliminary injunction is issued in threatened strike situations.

To reestablish a presumption of arbitrability in the public sector labor disputes arising out of collective bargaining agreements. (Executive Council)
