AFT Resolution
ADULT EDUCATION PARITY
WHEREAS, a longstanding, basic tenet of organized labor is equal pay for equal work; and
WHEREAS, most school districts require teacher certification for adult education programs; and
WHEREAS, adult education teachers are required to actively recruit their students to generate state aid monies for the school district's general fund; and
WHEREAS, great disparity exists between pay and benefits of the adult education teachers and the K-12 teachers of most school districts:
RESOLVED, that the AFT at all levels, national, state and local, vigorously supports parity pay and benefits between adult education teachers and K-12 teachers.
