ACCREDITING ASSOCIATION EVALUATIONS
WHEREAS, the general environmental condition in this country and the world, regarding habitat, resources, population, pollution, wildlife and space management, is far from satisfactory and in some ways is getting worse; and
WHEREAS, education has got to play a role in helping people to recognize and deal intelligently with the variety of environmental problems we have or may have in the future; and
WHEREAS, the North Central Association, when evaluating secondary schools, in seven year cycles, does not evaluate environmental programs:
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers appeal to and encourage all accrediting associations to review their evaluation policies and procedures for evaluating environmental education programs; and
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers extend the offer of assistance in setting policy and procedure for environmental education evaluation.
