BALTIMORE—American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten and two AFT vice presidents presided over a hearing in Baltimore yesterday from noon until 8:30 p.m. All parties involved in the contested Baltimore Teachers Union election were offered an opportunity to provide testimony, present documentary evidence and respond to allegations.

The election investigation committee understands the urgency of this matter and will work to make its recommendations as quickly as possible to ensure that members in Baltimore have a fully functioning local, and that the sanctity of the democratic election process is protected.
