WASHINGTON—AFT President Randi Weingarten on the re-election of Tom Wolf for governor of Pennsylvania:
“Voters in Pennsylvania gave Gov. Tom Wolf a second term to continue his commitment to investing in public education, expanding Medicaid and rejecting the politics of hate and fear. Gov. Wolf’s challenger channeled President Trump’s divisiveness and combativeness, but voters rejected that in favor of Wolf’s commitment to bring Pennsylvanians together, most recently in light of the recent murders at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.
“Gov. Wolf has led in job creation and workforce training, and he returned Philadelphia’s public schools to local control. Pennsylvania’s students, educators and families have a proven ally to work with to strengthen public schools, help working families get ahead, and ensure that Pennsylvanians have access to affordable healthcare and higher education.”
AFT Pennsylvania President Ted Kirsch on Tom Wolf’s re-election:
“Congratulations to Gov. Tom Wolf, to all our other endorsed candidates, and to voters across Pennsylvania, who rejected the politics of division and realized the strength of their united voice. For months, our members have been knocking on doors, making calls and mobilizing to put these candidates in office. Now, we look forward to working alongside them to build a state where public schools, healthcare and working-family values are the top priorities.”
