NON-SUPERVISORY HEALTH PROFESSIONALS' APPOINTMENTS TO STATE PROFESSIONAL LICENSING BOARDS
WHEREAS, many statutes that govern state professional licensing boards do not specify the appointment of non-supervisory professionals involved in direct patient care to the boards; and
WHEREAS, health professional licensing boards have been traditionally dominated by professionals involved in administration and education; and
WHEREAS, the boards should be comprised of individuals that represent all areas of practice; and
WHEREAS, the American Federation of Teachers/Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals is dedicated to expanding the influence of non-supervisory health workers:
RESOLVED, that the AFT encourages all state federations to change statutes to specify the appointment of non-supervisory health professionals to licensing boards; and
RESOLVED, that AFT urges health care members to seek appointment to state professional licensing boards.
