AFT Resolution
TRIBUTE TO RICHARD F. PARRISH
WHEREAS, Richard F. Parrish devoted a major portion of his life to fighting the injustices of this society; and
WHEREAS, Richard F. Parrish was a leader of the movement in 1963 to open a "freedom school" in Prince Edward County, Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Richard F. Parrish spent many years in the vineyards building the labor movement in this country; and
WHEREAS, Richard F. Parrish served as a vice-president of the American Federation of Teachers and as assistant treasurer of the United Federation of Teachers:
RESOLVED, that this 67th annual convention of the American Federation of Teachers pause to pay tribute to the fallen warrior who left this life Feb. 26, 1983.
