AFT Resolution
OPPOSE PRIVATIZATION OF SUNY DOWNSTATE
WHEREAS, the State University of New York board of trustees has non-renewed more than 400 members of United University Professions at Downstate Medical Center; and has not replaced over 130 nurses of the Public Employees Federation; and
WHEREAS, the SUNY board of trustees, in an open meeting, discussed further plans to privatize SUNY Downstate Medical Center and remove all union jobs:
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers continue to work with PEF and UUP to resist privatization and union-busting represented by such actions at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and other SUNY medical centers.
