MEDIA IDENTIFICATION OF AFT LOCALS

WHEREAS, teacher and health care action (strikes, elections, etc.) is constantly in the news; and

WHEREAS, the media uses the term "union" without differentiating between AFT and NEA, or AFT/FNHP and ANA; and

WHEREAS, the Colorado Federation of Teachers believes that an important difference exists and should be acknowledged:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers take whatever measures are appropriate to educate the media and public concerning said differences; and

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers initiate a serious media campaign calling for appropriate identification of AFT action.
