AFT Resolution

STAFFING AND PATIENT CARE

WHEREAS, proper staffing to ensure quality patient care services is a major concern to health care workers throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, inadequate staffing patterns compromise the quality of patient care services; and

WHEREAS, inadequate staffing of patient care areas directly contributes to the "burnout" phenomenon among nurses and the nursing "shortages" that exist in health care facilities across the nation:

RESOLVED, that the Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals/AFT support research into staffing patterns and their relationship to patient care, workplace stress, safety and health and the nursing shortage.
