AFT Resolution

SUPPORT FOR STRIKING MEMBERS OF THE UNITED PAPERWORKERS INTERNATIONAL UNION

WHEREAS, 3,500 striking members of the United Paperworkers have been struggling for months to maintain basic labor standards; and

WHEREAS, they are appealing for pressure to be brought on their employer, the International Paper Company, and those directors of Coca-Cola, Anheiser-Busch, Avon Products and Warner-Lambert who also serve on the Board of International Paper:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers publicly support this appeal and will act in accord with the request of the striking paperworkers for such pressure, and will call on all AFT members to do so personally through The American Teacher and On Campus.
