EQUAL PAY FOR COMPARABLE WORK

WHEREAS, the wages and salaries of workers in many fields are kept unfairly low because a majority of employees in those fields are women; and

WHEREAS, the men in those fields are also thereby adversely affected; and

WHEREAS, this affects teachers and health care professionals as well as millions of other workers:

RESOLVED, that the AFT Executive Council look into the possibility of legal action to secure equal pay for the groups of workers who have been discriminated against;; and

RESOLVED, that the Executive Council report its findings in the American Teacher.
